I wrote this prose-poem nearly a decade ago, though I finally sent it out earlier last year. Pioneertown published it and is featuring it on their website. It’s a poem about the cyclical nature of things, the places in between one state of being and the next, love, loss… all the things of Octobers. I hope you enjoy it.
Aboard the Ark:
an occurrence in five parts
"From the former Yugoslavia to the farthest reaches of the solar system, Rivet's issue 10 explores the edges of place and identity. This is our most international issue yet. Enjoy!"
-from the publisher
Aboard the Ark: an occurrence in five parts is an excerpt from a novella.
The One Realization that helped
me Forgive Myself & My Father
After a difficult phone call with my father, I spoke with a friend about the pain I still felt due to my father's disapproval of my life. She suggested I write about it, so I did. I hope this personal piece helps readers who may be struggling to forgive themselves or someone they love.
Safira, before the beginning &
from paradise
Both of these are narrative prose-poems. Safira, before the beginning led to my nomination for the Pushcart Prize in Poetry.
Excerpt from Untitled Poem
This is a zine from Pochino Press, showcasing the work of 20 writers and 10 visual artist, all on the themes of "Ancestors, Place, and Memory". An excerpt from one of my long prose-poems is included in this collection.
Unpublished
If you are interested in reading recent, unpublished work, I am happy to send excerpts from my first novel, or poems from my first book of poetry.
This poem was written during my time living in France, particularly in the Labastide region. The poem is part of a collection called "Musings" by myself & other writers in the south of France. I uploaded a copy my individual poem, which you can read by clicking below.
